Obituary for William D Phinney

William “Bill” Phinney
Bill lost his battle with cancer on Monday, March 11, 2024 with his wife Sue holding him. Also by his side were his hospice nurse, Tina, and his sister in-law and brother-in-law, Judi and Ken Gates. Bill worked at a small print shop in York ME where he learned how to print. He later had the opportunity to work at Labels Inc in Amesbury MA, and later went to work at Label Print/Inovar Pkging in Newburyport MA. Bill is survived by his wife, Susan Phinney, of Somersworth NH; stepson Derek Tate, his wife Michelle, and grandson Keyanu of Kaysville UT; sister Carole Bauman and her husband, Dale Bauman of Crossville TN; sister Trish Booth and her partner, Arthur Brouillard of Northfield NH; along with numerous nephews, nieces, and good friends. Bill was pre-deceased by his father, Robert Phinney, and mother, Claire Sansoucie Phinney. Bill loved to travel with Sue. Their favorite places to visit were Aruba, Las Vegas, and Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. They also enjoyed spending time at York and Ogunquit beaches. Two of Bill’s favorite pastimes were golfing and playing poker. A special thank you to Bill’s best friend, Chris Piazza, for providing transportation to all his medical appointments in Boston; Dr. Wilhelmina Cabalona, Desiree Villeneuve, and their staff; the nursing staff at the Infusion Center; Cheryl and the receptionists at MGH Cancer Center, who welcome all incoming patients with a smile. A special thank you also to Cornerstone VNA for their assistance. There will be no services. A Celebration of Life will be held late summer.
