Strafford NH: Walter J. Unger, 86, of Bow Lake Estates died on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Wentworth Douglas Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on September 30, 1932 in Lawrence MA; the son of Walter and Edna (Carrol) Unger. Walter was a loss control specialist for The Mutual Fire Insurance Association of New England until his retirement in 1995. Walter also was retired from the Army National Guard after 20 year of service and attaining the rank of Captain. He was an avid sportsman who loved hunting and competitive target shooting. He also enjoyed spending time on the water boating and fishing. He was a lifetime member of the Pelham fish and game club. Walter is survived by his 3 sons; Dennis and his wife Phyllis Unger of West Newbury, MA, Jim and his wife Jennifer Unger of Plaistow NH, Michael and his wife Connie of Strafford NH. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife Norma (Houle) Unger and a sister; Marie Kental. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Walter’s name to the Strafford Fire Association, StraffordFire Department, 360 Province Rd, Strafford NH 03884 for all the help they gave Walter as his health was failing.
