Berwick, Maine: Violeta Abellar Wiggin 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital with her family by her side. She was born on May 6, 1946 in Iloilo City, Philippines; the daughter of Luciano and Carmen (Abegan) Abellar. Violeta was a big hearted person who will be remembered for her strength and courage. She had the ability to relate to everyone and could always be counted on for sound advice as well as tough love. She was active in the Indonesian community and was a legendary cook. Violeta is survived by her spouse of 47 years, Donald; daughter Catherine (Wiggin) and husband Erik Gross, and grandsons Nathan and James Gross of Columbia, CT; siblings located in ME, NY, NJ, FL, and the Philippines; many nieces and nephews located in CT, NY, Canada, and the Philippines; and countless friends. She was pre-deceased by her father Luciano, brother Lionel, and sisters Regina and Guia Abellar. Friends and family may call from 11:00am-12:00pm on Saturday, July 28th, 2018 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 404 High St., Somersworth, NH. This will be followed by a Catholic Mass at 12pm, with Father Agapit Jean, officiating. Flowers are welcome, or memorial contributions may be made in Violeta’s name to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
