Obituary for Vasilios A Xydias Mr.

Vasilios A. Xydias Loved Family and Gardening DOVER- Vasilios A Xydias, 91 of 90 Old Rochester Road, died peacefully at home on December 6, 2014 surrounded by family. Born May 10, 1923 in Soulinarion, Messinias, Greece, he was the son of Apostolos and Athanasia (Karalis) Xydias. Mr. Xydias married his late wife, Georgia (Lumperopoulou) in Soulinarion in 1947 and came to America and settled in Dover in 1969. Mr. Xydias served in the Greek Army before arriving in America. He was a long time member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Dover, NH. After arriving in America, he worked at both local shoe shops and restaurants. He retired from Davison Rubber after 12 years. During his retirement he carried on through his passion of gardening. He loved both his flower and vegetable gardens. He also loved playing cards at the Greek Coffee House but he loved nothing more than his family. He is survived by his sons, Dimitrios Xydias and his wife, Stavroula of Dover, and Paul Xydias and his wife Tasia of Dover; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; two sisters, Kostadina Karabatsos of Dover and Demetra Bouzika of Greece; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins of the United States, Canada, Australia, and Greece. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 5PM – 8PM at the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, with a Trisagion service to take place at the beginning of visitation. A private funeral service will be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
