Obituary for Thomas Scott Marshall

Nottingham, NH - Thomas S. Marshall, 60, passed away on September 18th, 2021.
Tom was born in Exeter, NH on December 30th, 1960, to Thomas & Katherine (Herlihy) Marshall. He grew up in Newfields, NH where he attended Exeter High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a volunteer for the Newfields Fire Department and involved with the Newfields Horse Pull.

Tom married Robin J. Kidd on September 17th, 1983. Together they raised 3 children: Jessica, Joshua, and Jayson, in Nottingham, NH. He was a baseball coach for the Nottingham Youth Association (NYA) for many years and umpired many games. Tom had a love for animals which he shared with his family. This often included having chickens, turkeys, pigs, cats, and always having at least one dog.

Tom enjoyed all the parts of small-town New Hampshire living where he loved to go camping in the White Mountains, fishing in local streams, and spending time with his family. He also loved auto racing and often took his children to watch on the weekends. He enjoyed being a pit-crew member for a few local race teams including S & J Transportation where he worked for over 25 years. In his free time, Tom loved playing horseshoes, cooking on the grill, and spending time with his family, friends, and dogs.

Tom is survived by his wife Robin of 38 years; his daughter Jessica and husband Anthony Mehlig; his son Jayson Marshall; his sister Doreen and husband Bob Paquette; his sister Denise Marshall and partner Paul Wilbur; his grandchildren Brenden Curry, Isabella Mehlig, and Anthony (Renzo) Mehlig; and many other family members. Tom is predeceased by his parents Thomas and Katherine (Kitty) Marshall; his sister Janine Fortier; and his son Joshua Marshall.

Arrangements: A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 10th, from 1 – 4 pm, outside at the Higher Ground Church located at 100 Old Turnpike Rd, Nottingham, NH. All are welcome to come to remember and celebrate Tom’s life with a giant BBQ. Please dress casual, bring a chair, and a dish to share. Tom was known for his spareribs, so we will provide the meat and the heat. Please bring your favorite “go to” BBQ item, Salad, Side, or Dessert to share.

The family is also asking that you bring a picture of Tom and a story to share. A photo book will be made for his grandchildren so, as they grow up, they can know and remember their “Grampy”.

There will also be a private burial on Monday, October 11th, at 10am, at the Locust Grove Cemetery, 12-24 Piscassic Rd (Rt. 87), Newfields, NH. A small reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that any donations be made in Tom’s name to the Town of Nottingham – Memo: Fishing Derby, PO Box 114, Nottingham, NH 03290. Since this was Tom’s favorite pastime, we will be sponsoring the next Nottingham Fishing Derby in his memory.
