Obituary for Stephen P. Rogers Mr.

A Legend of Hospitality Providence, RI and Alton Bay, NH- Stephen P. Rogers died suddenly on August 27, 2014 with his family by his side. Stephen was born in Providence RI in 1955. He attended Wentworth Institute in Boston MA. During his youth he spent many summers on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee where his parents built and founded the Bay Side Inn at Alton Bay NH. Stephen became very interested in boating and other water sports where he received a number of water skiing awards. These experiences, combined with his love and respect for the Lake and its surroundings played a major role in his future career. After a few years doing construction in Florida the Bay Side Inn became available due to his father’s death. With limited resources but a great desire to own the Inn he successfully purchased the property about 20 years ago. It was a huge challenge as the Inn was in need of total restoration. Due to his innate entrepreneurial spirit, combined with his amazing ability to assess and solve problems from financing, building construction and a real Mr. Fix-It approach, the Inn has grown and expanded into a successful business. During this period of time he also developed and built two residential properties. Stephen has the basic attributes of a good architect, a good engineer, and honest politician. He would go to the help of any friend or neighbor. He had a wonderful outgoing way with people through which he developed many lasting friendships. His passion for riding his Harley and traveling with family and friends took him to many places within the United States, Caribbean Islands, Europe, and South Africa. He loved to travel the world! Stephen is survived by his wife Raquel of 20 years, the love of his life; their daughter Ashley, the apple of his eye; Mother Phyllis Woodbridge, Stepfather Henry Woodbridge, Sister Barbara K. Rogers, Stepbrother Trip Woodbridge, Stepsisters Winty Woodbridge, and Kim McCann, several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his father, Jesse Rogers. Donations in Stephen’s memory are appreciated and may be made to The Stephen P. Rogers Memorial Fund, Profile Bank, 145 Main Street PO Box 717, Alton NH 03809. Donations will directly benefit his daughter Ashley for her education or as needed. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Katherine Drexel Church on Monday September 15, 2014 at 10:00 AM, 40 Hidden Springs Rd- Off Rte. 28, Alton NH with Father Cole officiating.
