Obituary for Silvia Rosa Weeks

DOVER: Silvia Rosa Weeks passed away peacefully on the night of December 21, 2018 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was surrounded by her children and loved ones. She was born in Havana, Cuba on June 5th 1955 to Silvia and Bernardo Figueredo. She was 63. Silvia was predeceased by her parents, Silvia and Bernardo. She is survived by her children, Sara Weeks, Stacey Kostis, and Dan Weeks, as well as her grandchildren, Danny and Merida Kostis, nephews, grand niece, siblings, friends, and beloved pets, Lili, Jacoby, and Bernie Minigans. Her career in the Dover School District, where she worked for over 19 years, was one of her life’s priorities. She also volunteered her time sitting on various boards and committees in communities all over, including the Rochester Child Care Center in Rochester, the Ayers Lake Association in Barrington, and served as Treasurer for the Davis Farm Condo Association. She loved shopping, never missed a Red Sox game, never went a day without hot black coffee, and was always in the mood for chocolate. When she wasn’t relaxing with her beloved pets or doing yoga in the park, her favorite pastime of all was spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the Seacoast Cancer Center, along with the staffs of Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Langdon Place, Wentworth Douglass Hospital, Rochester Manor, and Hyder Family Hospice for their diligent care and attention. In life, Silvia believed in compassion for animals, and rescued both of her dogs from the wonderful Cocheco Valley Humane Society. In lieu of flowers, please donate to this outstanding establishment. The Seacoast Cancer Society is always looking for fleece hats and blankets, please consider donating there as well. If you have a Fascinator Hat (British wedding hat) please wear it. Silvia loved them and wanted to wear them to every fancy occasion. Silvia’s Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, December 29th, with viewing hours from 12-2 and a service immediately following from 2-3 at Wiggin Purdy McCooey Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover, NH with Father Agapit Jean, officiating.
