Obituary for Sarah Whitford Morgan Mrs.

Sarah Whitford Morgan passed away on April 30, 2018 at age 93. She enjoyed life up to her last day, chatting and walking with friends and family and relishing the spring weather. Sally was born on February 27, 1925 in Galesburg, IL, daughter of Robert Calvin Whitford and Mildred Sykes Whitford. She graduated from Erasmus Hall High School, Brooklyn NY in 1942 and entered Cornell University, where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics in 1945. Sally married William E. Morgan, Jr. on August 23, 1947. She taught kindergarten while Bill completed school in Indiana, then the couple moved to Long Island, NY where she worked as a receptionist for the General Assembly. In 1955 they relocated from Long Island to Nashua, NH where they lived and raised four children until 1971. They moved to Maryland, where Sally earned her real estate license and later enrolled in nursing school, graduating as a registered nurse. She retired from nursing at Anne Arundel General Hospital in 1994, and then worked at the Queen Anne’s County Visitor’s Center. In 2013, Sally and Bill moved to Durham NH and were cared for by their daughter and son-in-law. Sally was a warm and caring person who contributed with enthusiasm to any project at home, community, and church. She enjoyed making friends, music and singing, nature, crossword puzzles and poetry. She believed that “you should bloom where you’re planted” and was always the first to extend the hand of friendship. Sally was predeceased by her husband Bill and her three sisters: Mary, Ann, and identical twin, Cynthia. She is survived by her four children, James, Virginia, Douglas, and Robert and by loving in-laws, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
