Obituary for Sandra Stocklan (Bebchick)

Sandra “Sandi” Stocklan, 82, of Salisbury, Massachusetts, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Milltown Health and Rehab Center in Amesbury, Massachusetts. She was born on July 29, 1941, in Dorchester, Massachusetts, and moved to Dover, New Hampshire in the early 1960s with her then-husband and started their family.

Sandra’s greatest joys were her family, both immediate and extended, and her friends. Having been infirm for the past few years, she was particularly delighted by recent special visits from relatives — and was surrounded by family through the evening of her passing.

Sandra graduated from Beth Israel School of Nursing in 1962 and worked most of her life as a registered nurse, including in numerous hospital settings such as Wentworth-Douglass in Dover, New Hampshire and Hampstead Psychiatric Hospital in Hampstead, New Hampshire. She also had been a staff nurse at Seacoast Health Center, Bellamy Health Center, Strafford Guidance Crisis Center and Riverside Rest Home, and had been a substitute school nurse for Strafford County Schools in the 1970s and 80s.

In her younger days she spent time volunteering for, and at one point working for, the local Headstart Program. She also gave her time to local homeless shelters and an adult education center and was a grassroots volunteer for New Hampshire political campaigns in the 1980s and 1990s.

Sandi loved the beach, having lived close to the ocean in Seabrook and Hampton before landing in Salisbury. She also loved music and dancing – even dancing less than two years ago at her grandson’s wedding – and enjoyed musical theater, Broadway shows, plays at Prescott Park, cooking and travel with her family.

Sandra is survived by her three daughters; Lisa Harrison (Mark) of Fairfax Station, Virginia, Lauren Macaione (Edward) of Rollinsford, New Hampshire, and Jennifer Stocklan (Nate Jautaikis) of Rye, New Hampshire; and three grandchildren: Thomas (Abbi) Macaione of Lebanon, Maine, Evan Harrison of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Ella Harrison of Fairfax Station, Virginia; and by her brother, Stanley Bebchick of Lynnfield, Massachusetts. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families, and by cousins and in-laws – all of whom she greatly treasured.

Sandra was predeceased by her father, Barnett; mother, Lillian; sister, Phyllis Lyman; and longtime companion, Robert Young.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Brookhaven Hospice, 115 Turnpike Rd., Suite 206, Westborough, MA 01581, or to Chelsea Jewish Charitable Foundation, 240 Lynnfield Street, Peabody, MA. 01960, Attention: Shayna Morris.
