Obituary for Ruth Carol Keene

DOVER: Ruth Carol Keene, 106, of Dover, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at her home. She was born on Christmas Day, 1912 in Dover, NH the daughter of David and Eliza (Marnoch) Williamson. Ruth lived her whole life in Dover. She was the first female teller at Strafford National Bank. She loved to cook and was a gracious hostess. She had many artistic pursuits as hobbies. Principal among them was oil painting which she taught for over 30 years. Ruth was a lifelong member of First Parish Church which was an extremely important part of her life. In recent years Ruth was also active in the “Ageless Dreamer” program in Dover. Ruth had many roles throughout her life. Her life was not without challenges but she met each one with the confidence of an “I can do this” attitude. An inspiration to all her family and friends. Ruth was predeceased by her spouse of over 40 years Roscoe King. Also predeceased by spouse of 1 year Russell Keene. Ruth is survived by: stepson Russell Keene Jr., his spouse Marjorie Keene and their children Andrew Keene and Kristen Barranco. Also by stepdaughter Sharon Keene. Also by great-niece Jessica Littlefield and great-nephew Steven Littlefield. Ruth was lovingly cared for by Atlantic Homelife Senior Care, LLC of Dover during the last months of her life. She also received excellent assistance from Wentworth-Douglass Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruth’s memory to First Parish Church of Dover. Interment was at Pine Hill Cemetery. Ruth’s friend, Reverend Jack Lynes officiated. Arrangements by Wiggin Purdy McCooey Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover, NH.
