Dover: Ruth Esther (Stadig Skonberg) Glidden, 85, formerly of New Rochester Road, went home to our Lord, on Thurs., Jan. 19, 2012, with her husband, Robert, by her side at Riverside Rest Home in Dover. Ruth was born on Jan. 13, 1927 in Dover, NH; the daughter of the late Albert N and Gertrude (Wiik) Stadig. She was a graduate of Dover High and longtime resident of Dover. Ruth was a homemaker, raising eight children; and cherishing every moment with them. She was a writer of poetry, freelance journalist and was in the process of writing a book. She was a realtor and sold realty for Fischer Agency in Dover. She enjoyed gardening, nature and cooking. Ruth and Robert traveled to Israel seven times. She was very proud of her Swedish heritage. She was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church in Dover. Besides her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her first husband, Theodore Skonberg in 1959; by her brother, Albert Stadig and sister, Linnea (Stadig) Silver and her granddaughter, Johanna Swenson. Ruth is survived by her husband, Robert L. Glidden; her children, Christina (Skonberg) and Dan Reel, Wayne and Rita Glidden, Karen (Skonberg) and Richard Moore, Leah (Skonberg) and Tim Sweeney; Nancy (Glidden) and Skip Bailey, Ellen Skonberg, Diana (Glidden) and Kevin Bascom, and Jane (Glidden) and Andrew Kelsall; 23 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren. Friends and family may call from 1-2:00pm on Sun., Jan. 22nd at the Heritage Baptist Church, 186 Dover Point Road, Dover, NH followed by the service at 2:00pm with Rev. Taigen Joos, officiating.
