Obituary for Russell Linwood Crockett Mr.

Rochester: Russell L. Crockett, 84, of Murray Dr., passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Riverside Rest Home in Dover. Russell was born on August 21, 1927 in Dover, NH; the son of Frederick and Helena (Cother) Crockett. He graduated in 1945 from Dover High School; he was a letterman, an avid football and basketball player. Russell served our country proudly as a Seaman 2nd Class, in the US Navy during WWII. He was a past officer and active member of the Dover Elks, Lodge #184. He worked as a General Foreman in Shop #99 at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 32 years, retiring in August of 1980. Russell is survived by his daughters, Sheila Cash and her husband, Kevin of Rochester, Wendy Leslie and her husband, Richard from Madison; his son-in-law, Marc LaRochelle of Dover; his sister-in-law, Ursula Crockett of Vallejo, CA; his six grandchildren Michael Cash of Wake Forest, NC, Corey Cash and his wife, Jennifer of Hampton Falls, Derek Leslie and his wife, Amy of Fremont, Craig Leslie of Lincoln, Stacy Borenstien and her husband, Bill of Rochester, and Jason LaRochelle of Rollinsford ; 6 great grandchildren Virginia, Reed, Blake, Payten, Ryan and Abigail and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Lorraine (Seaver) Crockett in 2005; his daughter, Gail LaRochelle in 2010; his brother, Murray Crockett in 1976 and his brother Everett Crockett in 2012; and his longtime companion, Gladys Pelletier in 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Russell’s name to the Riverside Rest Home, Activities Fund, 276 County Farm Road, Dover, NH, 03820 and Wentworth Hospice, 121 Broadway, Suite 117, Dover, NH 03820. Friends and family may call from 5-7pm on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover, NH. A funeral service will be held 2:00pm on Friday, June 22, 2012 at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, with Rev. Susan Garrity, officiating.
