Obituary for Robert MacLachlan Mr.

DURHAM, NH – Robert MacLachlan, 84, of Durham, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2014 at his daughter’s home in Madbury, NH after a period of failing health. The son of the late John and Winifred MacLachlan, Robert was born on June 2, 1929 in East Haven, CT. Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and received the Purple Heart, among other decorations. Robert was a member of the American Legion, Post 40, in Winthrop, ME for fifty years, and a member of the VFW Post 9526 in Winthrop. He was a fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Celtics, in that order. He was also a history enthusiast and a wicked good storyteller. Robert was the owner of Scotty’s Barber Shop in Winthrop, ME for forty years. Robert is predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Muriel MacLachlan; his second wife, Ann MacLachlan; and two brothers, Jonathan and William MacLachlan. Robert is survived by his son, David MacLachlan and his wife Renae of Gettysburg, PA; his daughter Catherine Michaud and her husband Robert of Madbury, NH; his brother James MacLachlan of Largo, FL; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. At this time there are no services planned, however inurnment will take place at a later date at the Maine Veteran’s Cemetery in Augusta, ME.
