Obituary for Robert L. Glidden Mr.

Dover: Robert Lincoln Glidden, 85, formerly of New Rochester Road, went home to our Lord, on Sat. Feb.18, 2012, with his family by his side at Riverside Rest Home in Dover. Robert was born on March 31, 1926 in Dover; the son of the late Robert Leslie and Doris (Dudley) Glidden. He was a longtime resident of Dover. Robert signed with the Marine Corp while in High School. He served our country proudly during World War II earning a Purple Heart. He worked at the A&P Grocery in Dover and started part-time for B&M Railroad, eventually becoming fulltime as a Brakeman and continuing for 33+ years before retiring. He had many part-time jobs through the years. Robert and Ruth traveled to Israel seven times and loved spending winters in Florida. He was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church in Dover. Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by his wife, Ruth, brother, Reynard Glidden and granddaughter, Johanna Swenson. Robert is survived by his children, Christina (Skonberg) and Dan Reel, Wayne and Rita Glidden, Karen (Skonberg) and Richard Moore, Leah (Skonberg) and Tim Sweeney; Nancy (Glidden) and Skip Bailey, Ellen Skonberg, Diana (Glidden) and Kevin Bascom, and Jane (Glidden) and Andrew Kelsall; 23 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s name to Heritage Baptist Church, 186 Dover Point Road, Dover, NH. 03820. Friends and family may call from 1-2:00pm on Sat., Feb. 25th at the Heritage Baptist Church, 186 Dover Point Road, Dover, NH followed by the service at 2:00pm with Rev. Taigen Joos, officiating.
