Obituary for Richard A Walker Sr.

Barrington- Richard “Dick” Walker Sr. of Barrington, died peacefully at home on Sunday November 5,2023 after a brief illness.
Born July 25, 1941 in Rochester NH he was the son of the late Frank and Blanche (Brogan) Walker. Dick was raised in Barrington and attended grade school in Barrington and then Spaulding High School. Dick worked many years running construction equipment for Phillip J Guptill Construction and later Toy’s Manufactured Housing until his retirement. He spoke highly of both Phil Guptill and Donald Toy and was proud to have worked for them.
Dick is survived by his son Richard “Rick” Walker Jr. and his wife Wanda, Daughter Laura Scherer, and husband Mike. Grandchildren Nichole (Marcus) Bullock, Whitney Walker and partner Gino Triantafiloupolos, Darren Scherer, Mikie Scherer, and Tina Garrity. Great Grandchildren Latrell Bullock, Jayla Bullock, Malachi Bullock, Cole Scherer, and Alex Scherer. Sisters Patricia (Robert) Wilkins, Madlyn “Prudy” (Gene) Wilkins, and Pamela Hebert, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. And his faithful dog “Miss Marti”. Besides his parents Dick was predeceased by his wife of 63 years Irene, and daughters Nancy, and Ellen Walker.
Dick raced in his early years at local speedways including Granite State Park in Dover, Lee Raceway, The old Loudon Speedway, and Star Speedway. Winning many races along the way. In his later years he could be found sitting in his garage, Budweiser in hand watching a Nascar race.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wentworth Hospice for their compassionate care over the last few weeks. Per his request there will be no services, and a spring burial will take place at the convenience of the family. His care has been entrusted to Purdy Funeral Services in Lee, NH.
