Obituary for Richard S. Gilchrist Jr. Mr.

Northwood, NH- Richard S. Gilchrist, Jr., 80, of died Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Concord Hospital. Born December 7, 1931 in Lawrence, MA he was the son of the late Richard S. Gilchrist, Sr. and Susie Haggas Gilchrist. Richard graduated from Northeastern University and was a member and past president of Sigma Epsilon Rho Honor Fraternity. He was a member and past president of the Morrison Lodge #90 F&AM and was a member of Bektash Shrine, Simardi Club and the Mini Kar Patrol. Richard was also a member of The Valley of Portsmouth and the Dover Scottish Rite. He was a member and Past Patron of Crescent Chapter #45 OES and also Past Grand Chaplain of The Grand Chapter of NH OES. He was a Century Club Member of EAA Association and was a lifetime member of Roadrunner Prospectors Club. Richard was a veteran in the US Navy Richard enjoyed flying as a private pilot and was an avid model builder of remote controlled airplanes and also enjoyed woodworking. Survivors include his wife Alice Gilchrist of Northwood, one son Richard S. Gilchrist III, two daughters; Vail Hauke and her husband Wolfgang of Langhorne, PA and Judith Anthony and her husband Steven of Northwood. He was also survived by four grand children; Mark D., Brian E., Laura E. Gilchrist and Hannelore L. Hauke, and two great grandchildren Zachary and Annabell Gilchrist. He was predeceased by a sister, Jean Sutherland. Visiting hours will be held Monday June 4, 2012 from 5-8pm at Purdy Memorial Chapel, 2 Concord Rd (Rt 4) Lee, NH. A Celebration of life will be held Tuesday June 5, 2012, 11am at the Northwood Congregational Church with Rev. Gayle Murphy and Rev. Dwight Meader officiating.
