Obituary for Richard N. Adrien Mr.

Somersworth- Richard N. Adrien, 79, of Lincoln St. died Friday June 8, 2012 at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, surrounded by his loving family. Born February 2, 1933 in Lynn, MA he was the son of the late Albert and Georgianna (St. Martin) Adrien. Richard attended schools in Lynn MA, Davis Vocational School and UNH. He worked for General Electric Meter working up from drafting to mechanical engineer for 34 years and served in the US Air Force from1951-1955. Richard was a member of the Dover Elks, served on the Somersworth City Council in 1974 and was a CCD teacher and lecturer at St. Martins Church. He was a devout catholic and member of St. Martin Catholic Church. He also received the Ralph J. Cordiner Award in 1963 for “GE Accent on Value” Program. Richard enjoyed raising his twelve children with his wife Jackie, remodeling their home, traveling and camping in their motorhome as well as spending winters in Florida in their RV. He also took pride in handcrafting kitchen cabinets for the homes of some of his children and growing the family garden. Richard is survived by his wife Jacqueline (Turcotte) whom he married on October 22, 1955. He is survived by his 12 children; Denise Ambrose and her husband Ronald of Somersworth, Karen Gauthier and her husband Roland of Berwick, Donna Houde and her husband Philip of Somersworth, Ronald Adrien of Portsmouth, Linda Rogers and her husband Larry of Lebanon, ME, Raymond Adrien and his wife Tena of Somersworth, Rene Adrien of Rochester, Carole Garrett and her husband Robert of Wells, ME, Steven Adrien of Somersworth, Christopher Adrien and his wife Lauren of East Hampstead, James Adrien and his wife Jenn of Somersworth and Shannon Roberge and her husband Brian of Somersworth. Richard is also survived by 3 siblings; Leonard Adrien, Marie Fallon, Janet Curley, 24 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Omer Adrien & Joseph Adrien. At ones discretion, the family asks to wear the color purple to signify Alzheimer’s at the services. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday June 12, 2012 from 5-8pm at Purdy Memorial Chapel, 2 Concord Rd (RT 4) Lee. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, 11am at St. Martin’s Church in Somersworth with Father Michael Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Somersworth.
