Obituary for Raymond Anthony D'Eon Jr.

Raymond Anthony D'Eon Jr., 94, of Freedom, NH, died February 26, 2024, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital surrounded by family.

Raymond began working at Grossman's in Malden, MA at the age of 16 to help his parents provide for their family. He served in the US Army near the end of World War II. He returned to work at Grossman's as a Tallyman and Truck Driver and became a member of Local 379 Teamsters Union. Eventually, he worked at Nonantum Lumber until he retired from the Union, 45 years later.

Upon returning home from the military, Ray met the love of his life, Audrey Standley, of Melrose MA. They married and raised 7 children together in Saugus, MA. They celebrated 54 years of marriage prior to Audrey's passing.

Always a hard worker, Ray provided a second home on Lake Ossipee, where Audrey and their children spent their entire summers every year. Although Raymond was not fond of water activities, Audrey especially loved sailing (on the lake and ocean) and since he'd do anything to please her, Ray earned his Coast Guard Boating license too. They also enjoyed cruises and vacationing in warmer climates in the company of his many siblings and their spouses. Once the two even made time to fly to Australia to bring back the America's Cup!

They eventually retired to their lake home, where being avid golfers, they found many friends in their membership at the Indian Mound Golf Club.

Raymond Jr. was predeceased by his wife, Audrey P. (Standley) D'Eon, their son Charles D'Eon, and a granddaughter, Erin Halloran.

He is survived by his loving children: Philip D'Eon and wife Janet, Thomas D'Eon and wife Mary, Susan D'Eon and wife Stephanie, Richard D'Eon and Donna, Nancy D'Eon Ford and husband Stephen, and Raymond D'Eon III and wife Laura. Raymond leaves his 15 adoring grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and his loyal sister Marie (D'Eon) Zampitella.

Please feel free to make Memorial Contributions in Raymond's name to a charity of your choice.
