Obituary for Pearl M. Upton Mrs.

Dover, NH: Pearl M. (Taylor) Upton, 90, of Dover died after a period of declining health on Monday February 20, 2012 at Dover Rehab and Living Center in Dover where she had lived since 2004. She was born on March 6, 1921 in Dover, NH the daughter of Alfred Leo and Mary (Mathes) Taylor. Pearl attended school in Dover and worked for ten years at the Dover Toy Factory. In the 60’s and 70’s she spent ten years in manufacturing employed first with Profile Rubber in the Sawyer Mills complex and then transitioned to Davidson Rubber - Textron in Dover. Known for her beautiful knitting and crocheting, Pearl worked with the craft ladies of Dover Rehab making clothes for newborns. These were presented to new mothers at Wentworth Douglas Hospital. She also loved creating clothes for her many dolls which were her prized possessions. She spent many happy years attending church with her husband Arnold at the First Parish Church Congregational in Dover. Pearl and Arnold were married for 53 years up until his passing in 1994. Together they were active in the Rollinsford American Legion and the Loyal Order of the Moose in Dover. Pearl is survived by daughters Bonnie A. Leavitt and her husband John of Dover; Patricia D. Roberge and her husband Paul of Bladensburg MD; and sons Larrie O. Upton and his wife Kathleen of Dover; and Jerrie A.D. Upton and his wife Phyllis of So. Berwick ME. Her life was framed around family gatherings and she will be greatly missed by her ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Additionally she leaves a sister Lois Tinker of Webster MA: brother Al Taylor and his wife Rachael of Las Vegas, NV as well as lifelong friends brother-in-law Ralph Lauze of Rollinsford and Sister-in-law Gladys Faucher of Somersworth. She was pre-deceased by her husband Arnold and her parents Alfred and Mary Taylor of Dover. Family flowers only, donations can be made to Beacon Hospice or the charity of one’s choice. Friends and family may call from 5-7pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Wiggin Purdy McCooey Dion Funeral Home 655 Central Ave., Dover, NH with a service officiated by Rev. Jack Lyons to immediately follow visiting hours at 7:00pm at the funeral home. A private interment service will be held in Pine Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
