Obituary for Nancy L Emerson Ms.

Nancy Lyn (O’Dea) Emerson, 78, of Lee, NH died on April 10, 2020 at Portsmouth Hospital after a period of failing health. She was born on September 19, 1941 in Lynn, MA; the daughter of John B. and R. Evelyn (Nay) O’Dea. Nancy grew up in Peabody, MA where she raised her children. She worked as a Bookkeeper at Bursaw Oil and Townsend Energy in Danvers, MA for many years before retiring in 2008. Nancy decided in 2004 to move to NH in order to be closer to her family during her retirement years. Nancy will be remembered as quiet and soft spoken and would always greet you with a welcoming smile and a warm heart. Nancy not only had a warm heart but a very big and caring heart as well. She spent most of her adult life caring for a special needs child, her youngest daughter, Denise. Her giving did not stop there. After retiring she found another passion in seeing our troops off and welcoming them home with the group, the Pease Greeters. She spent her free time doing a few other things she enjoyed like gardening, traveling, and most of all reading. She was an avid reader, enjoying mystery novels the most. Nancy is survived by her daughter Corinne (Amero) O’Dea of Portsmouth, NH, son and daughter-in-law Russell and Carolyn Emerson of Raleigh, NC and daughter Denise Emerson of Swampscott MA; brothers Jay O’Dea and his wife Patricia of Ipswich, England and Jack O’Dea and his wife Sheri of Haverhill, MA; grandchildren Stephen Amero of Dover, NH, Stephanie Amero of Portsmouth, NH, Samantha Emerson of Knightdale, NC and Erin Emerson of Raleigh, NC; great grandchildren Avery and Harper Adair of Portsmouth, NH; and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents and her sister Dawn Warren of Florida. Nancy will be forever missed!
