Obituary for Michael J. Stacewicz

Michael John Stacewicz, 73, of Berwick Maine, passed away on January 23, 2023 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital after a battle of illness over the last two months.

He was born on September 24, 1949 in Boston MA; the son of Michael and Helen (Cwalina) Stacewicz.

He worked at the Boston Naval Shipyard until 1975, then at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a Nuclear Inspector until 1997. After leaving the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, he went back to school and began his career at CVS, as their Field Technician until he retired.

After he began his retirement, he spent his time working part time at Michaels craft and then Station Host for the Downeaster in Dover, NH.

Mike was an avid Railroad enthusiast and was a member of the Mystic Valley Railroad Club and the 470 Railroad Club. He spent a lot of his free time building model trains for his giant train set he built above his garage.

He enjoyed being on the water and was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary out of Portsmouth NH in his younger years. And he always looked forward to the yearly trips out on the Schooner Heritage Voyages with his wife out of Rockland Maine.

Mike loved to work with his hands building all sorts of things. Along with all his trains and complete railroad set, he enjoyed building things in his workshop where he would spend hours tinkering away at whatever his latest project was at the time. He even had a mobile workshop set up in his van. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandkids teaching them how to build things and showing them his little tricks of the trade. He had so much more to teach and not enough time. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Carole (Landry) Stacewicz; son, William Stacewicz of Lebanon Maine; Daughters, Kymmi Stacewicz of Lebanon Maine; Maureen Fanning of Somersworth NH; Grandchildren, Spencer Stacewicz of Somersworth NH; Jayde Stacewicz of Lebanon Maine; Alexis Hatfield of Somersworth NH; Jameson Fanning of Somersworth NH. Special Family Friends; Wilbur Haskell Sr.; Wilbur Haskell Jr.; and Deb Grispi.

Michael was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Helen Stacewicz and son, Michael “Mikey” J. Stacewicz Jr.
