Obituary for Mehrl Kenith Martin Jr.

Mehrl Martin, 65, a dedicated father and spouse, passed away July 7th after fighting pancreatic cancer for nine months. He is survived by Leslie Adams Martin, his wife of 24 years, his daughters, Margot and Amanda, his sister, JoAnne Higgins and other close family. His courage was amazing and inspirational. Raised in Bethesda, Maryland, Mehrl graduated from Walter Johnson High School and American University. Mehrl’s career was in educational marketing at Educational Testing Service and Measured Progress among other companies. Mehrl loved music. He spent time in the 60’s and 70’s as a lead singer with bands in Maryland. Three weeks before he passed, Mehrl gave an amazing performance at an impromptu concert with his old friends. He was known for his optimistic attitude and big smile. A memorial service will be held on August 4th at 11:00 AM at the Durham Community Church in Durham, NH. A second celebration of Mehrl’s life will be held on September 15th at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. at 2 PM.
