Mary Agnes (Conlon) Hagstrom, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 11, 2019, surrounded by her family. A longtime resident of Durham, NH, she was the loving wife of the late Dr. Earl C.Hagstrom whom she married on April 19, 1952. Together they had five children Mark, Neal, Mary K., Gail, and Carol. Mary’s happiest role was as a loving Nana to ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mary was born August 2nd, 1929 in Arlington Ma. Educated in the area school district; she graduated from Arlington High School in 1947. She earned her RN at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing in Brighton, Ma, graduating in 1951, and a BA from New England College in 1977. Over the years, she devoted herself to the role of wife, mother, and nurse to her family and community. After moving several times early in her marriage, the Hagstrom's settled in Durham where Mary became a dedicated nurse in the seacoast community. Over the years she worked at St. Ann Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, in the Oyster River School District, but she especially loved her work at the UNH Student Health Center. As a lifelong learner and avid reader, she traveled extensively with her husband in retirement. She is predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Earl C. Hagstrom, and her son Mark A. Hagstrom. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at the Purdy Funeral Home, Central Avenue, Dover, NH on Saturday, January 19th, 2019. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am followed by a benediction service at 11:30 am. A private interment will occur at a later date.
