Obituary for Martha Raymond (Raymond)

Martha Raymond; April 30, 1956 to June 20, 2021
Born to Beverly and Sherwood Raymond in Norwich, CT. She had a happy childhood growing up on farm. After she graduated from Norwich Free Academy, she went on to further her education at Nason College in Springvale, Maine graduated with a Bachelors’ degree in 1978.
She was employed by the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard starting in 1981 where she was a Radiological Control Technician in Rad Con. Moving on after a few years to the Environmental and Safety Division, then a short assignment to Public Affairs. She was then promoted to Comand University where she was tasked with commissioning the USS New Hampshire SSN 778. She ended her career at the Shipyard and went on to retire in 2011.
Enjoying her time she spent with her grandchildren, gardening and cooking. Spending her summers in Maine and winters in Florida. A happy life.
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Jay Sterling of Naples, Florida; she cherished her son, Colby Marsh and his wife, Caitlin; their three children, that were the love of her life, Tanner, Saylor and Finley Grace; her sister, Sarah Raymond and two brothers, Frederic and Sherwood Raymond.
Nothing brought more joy and satisfaction than preparing a feast for family and friends. Everyone was always welcome at her dining room table.
Her services will be held at Plains Cemetery July 17, 2021 at 11am under the Mountain Road Franklin, CT.
There will be a reception at Blue Slope Country Museum, 138 Blue Hill Road, Franklin, CT following the service.
