Obituary for Marion E. Shaheen Mrs.

Dover, NH and Williamsburg, VA - Marion E. Shaheen, 94, formerly of 25 Florence Street in Dover, NH, passed away peacefully on September 9 at Consulate Health Care in Williamsburg, VA. Marion was born in Somersworth, NH, on January 25, 1920, the daughter of Timothy and Annie (Spain) Cullinan, and was the fifth of six children. She moved to Dover in 1926, and attended Dover schools. Marion met her husband, Raymond Shaheen, at a Central Park dance in Dover, NH, where he was No. 4 on her dance card. They were married on October 13, 1941, and spent many evenings dancing and playing cards with their friends throughout the seacoast. They resided in Dover, where they raised their family, and enjoyed 52 years of marriage. A devout Catholic, Marion was a communicant at St. Mary's Church (Parish of the Assumption) in Dover for 84 years. She was employed at Daeris' Tea Room, and Eastern Air Devices, where she made many lifelong friends. A gregarious and fun-loving person, she lived an active and family-filled life. She enjoyed dancing, ice skating, swimming, painting classes, and was always ready for a game of cards, especially with her dear friend, Mary Nowak. In her later years she enjoyed cooking, socializing with her friends, and nurturing her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond J. Shaheen, her parents, Timothy and Annie Cullinan, her brothers, Gerald and Timothy Cullinan, and her sisters, Eleanor Hickey, Margaret Labrie, and Anna Gauthier. She is survived by her son, Daniel Shaheen, and his wife, Toni, of Dover, NH; and her daughter, Cheryl Winter and her husband, Kenneth, of Williamsburg, VA. "Nana" will be sorely missed by her cherished grandchildren: Victoria Shaheen, Eric Winter, Daniel Shaheen, and Sara Edwards, and her five great-grandchildren, as well as many friends and loving nieces and nephews in both the Shaheen and Cullinan families. Our family would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for the wonderful care and attention she received from the staff at Consulate Health Care. Flowers are welcome. Donations may be made in Marion’s name to the Parish of the Assumption, St. Mary’s Church, Dover, NH.
