Maria Cristina Linero
Maria Cristina Linero, 94, of Nottingham NH passed away peacefully on 3 November 2023 at the Hyder Family Hospice House after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born on 1 July 1929 in Humacao Puerto Rico; the daughter of Fermin and Severa Vega. She was the last of 3 brothers and 3 sisters. At age 25, Maria moved to the Bronx NY where she met her late husband, Jose. They were married for 52 years at the time of his death. Maria had two sons and two stepsons. In early 1991, Maria and Jose moved to Homestead FL and survived Hurricane Andrew in 1992, which devastated their apartment complex. After the hurricane, they moved to Tampa FL, then Brandon FL. After the passing of her husband in 2011, she became a snowbird living in New Hampshire during the Spring/Summer and Brandon FL area during the Fall/Winter. The last 4 years, Maria lived permanently in beautiful Nottingham NH.
A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she loved spending her days cooking delicious Puerto Rican food, watching her Spanish soap operas (novellas), crocheting, and spending quality time with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren…they were her life, they were her joy.
Maria, a widower, is survived by her son Jimmy and wife Sandra of Nottingham NH; 6 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 6 step great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on 18 November 2023 at Purdy Memorial Chapel, 2 Concord Road, Lee NH 03824.
