Durham: Margaret Hill Audette, 92, formerly of Springfield, VT and most recently of the Inn at Spruce Wood in Durham, passed away on Thursday evening, Nov. 3, 2011 at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, NH. Margaret was born on July 26, 1919 in Plainfield, New Hampshire; the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie (Westgate) Hill. She attended UNH and graduated in the class of 1941. On December 7, 1941, she married her husband Creighton Oliver Audette. Margaret and Creighton lived in Springfield, VT from 1957 until 1994 when her husband of 53 years passed away. Margaret worked at the Springfield Public Library. For most of her life she attended the Unitarian Universalist Church in Springfield, VT. She stayed on in Springfield until January of 2009; she then came back to Durham, NH and resided at The Inn at Spruce Wood. Besides spending time with her family; Margaret enjoyed antiques, painting in oils and watercolors and reading in her spare time. She is survived by her children, Gail A. Kiesler of Stowe, VT, Carol A. Evans of Lee, NH and Duncan C. Audette of Nevada City, CA and four granddaughters. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Creighton O. Audette in 1994 and her son, Gregory W. Audette in 2009. Margaret’s family would like to send special thanks to all the staff at the Inn at Spruce Wood in Durham for the wonderful care Margaret received during her 2+ years stay there. And a special thanks to all the staff at the Hyder Family Hospice House for the special care she received in making her comfortable as her time got near. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will follow at the Plainfield Cemetery, Plainfield, NH.
