Marcia J. Gasses
Dover, NH: Marcia Joan Gasses, 63, of Garrison Rd. passed away peacefully on February 20, 2023, at her home with her family by her side. Marcia was born on January 23, 1960, in Dover, NH, the daughter of Arthur Gasses and Joan Gasses.
Marcia was a proud mother and grandmother. She was engrained in her community serving on the Dover Conservation Commission and Dover City Council. Marcia took great pride in her work as the Barrington Town Planner. She was dedicated to her children; Marcia spent much of their childhood traveling New England for basketball games, horseshows, and snowboarding trips. For the last several years, her “happy place” was her camp in Freedom, NH, with her partner Peter, where she could be seen walking her dogs, Ginger and Beatrice, kayaking, and fishing with her Grandson, Garrett. She had a love for animals, the beach, her friends, and NASCAR. Marcia’s spirit for life was unparalleled and contagious; her positive attitude was unflappable.
Marcia is survived by her brother Paul Gasses and wife Laurie Gasses, and sister Carol Gasses and husband Frank Patterson, partner Peter Cook, her children William Colbath and wife Nariel Colbath, Aimee Colbath and husband Michael Riksheim and Ryan Colbath and wife Nicole Colbath and her grandchildren Garrett Colbath, Brandon Colbath and Michael “Micah” Riksheim.
Marcia was pre-deceased by her parents, Arthur Gasses and Joan Gasses.
Flowers are welcome. In lieu of flower, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Cocheco Valley Humane Society (https://popememorialcvhs.org/donations/make-a-donation/) or Cornerstone VNA Hospice (https://cornerstoneVNA.org).
A public celebration of life will be held at 4pm on March 2, 2023, at the Purdy Family Funeral Home (655 Central Avenue, Dover, NH). The public may visit with the family from 4-6pm with a short service to follow.
