Obituary for Lois E. Belanger (Dean)
Lois Edith (Dean) Belanger, 88, was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and friend to many on Dover Point.
She passed away peacefully on July 20, 2022 at Wentworth Douglass Hospital Hospice Care with her son Thomas by her side.
Lois was born on March 21, 1934, to Jim Dean and Eva Blizzard in Lowell, MA. She attended schools in Taunton, MA and Dover, NH. While attending school in Dover and living with the Dow family on Dover Point she met the love of her life, William Joseph Belanger, Sr.
In 1951, Lois married William. They remained a loving and devoted couple for 66 years.
In 1953, Lois and William started their family and together built their family home in 1954 on property attached to William’s Dover Point family farm and raised 4 sons and 1 daughter. They lived there through 2016.
Lois and William exposed their children to all forms of sports and outdoor activities. Camping trips to the White Mountains, lakes and NH State Parks were favorites. Their home and old cow pasture was the place for countless pickup baseball, softball and football games for the children and friends.
Lois and William were members in the John Williams Chapter #53 Order of the Eastern Star for 55 years.
After raising her family, Lois worked in Dover school cafeteria system for many years and retired as a clerk from Dover District Court.
After retirement Lois and William traveled and enjoyed many trips to Florida, Cape Cod, Newport, RI and Fox Woods Casino. When not traveling they especially like yard sales, flea markets and volunteered at Saint Anne’s nursing home on Dover Point and Wentworth Douglass Hospital.
Lois is predeceased by her parents, her husband, William Joseph Belanger, Sr. and her daughter, Sharon Lee (Belanger) Souter.
Lois is survived by her; son, William J. Belanger, Jr. and wife, Louise (Hatch) of Alfred, Maine; son, Bruce C. Belanger and wife Jane Cole of Newington, NH; son, Timothy D. Belanger and wife Robin (Cress) of Berwick, Maine, son, Thomas A Belanger of North Berwick, Maine; 9 grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
A celebration of Lois’s life will be held at a later date.
