Obituary for Leo Vaughn Scott

Leo V. Scott passed away peacefully on July 26th, 2023 at Watson Fields. He was born in Bangor, ME on July 22nd, 1925 to Viola (Johnson) and Vaughan Scott. After graduating from Bangor High School in 1943 he enlisted in the US Army and was assigned to the 16th Armored Division in Europe during WWII.

After the war, Leo married Isabelle Foster on September 11th, 1948 and moved to Dover, NH to start a family together. In 1957, they purchased their home on New Rochester Road where they raised 9 children. He resided in the same home until March of this year.

Leo worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 35 years as a budget analyst for the transportation department.
Leo was proud to be a lifelong member of the Cocheco Grange where he held several positions including Master. He enjoyed attending car shows once owning a 1936 Oldsmobile with a Rumbleseat. Every vehicle he owned was big enough to fit the entire family for their Sunday drives. He enjoyed gardening and sharing his array of vegetables with family and friends.

Leo was predeceased by his wife Isabelle of 50 years, son Stephen, brothers David Bolstridge, John Bolstridge, Robert Scott, Grandson, Foster Scott. He is survived by his two daughters, Carol Bolduc and Joyce (Glenn) Caron. His 6 sons, Vaughn, Ralph, Russell, Jim, Kenn and Jeff Scott. His sisters, Gladys Merrill and Iver Crosby and his aunt, Olive Bragg. His 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday August 2nd at Wiggin Purdy Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave. Dover, NH 03820 from 4-7pm. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, August 3rd at the same location, followed by a burial at Pine Hill Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife Isabelle of 50 years. The family wishes to gratefully thank the dedicated staff at Watson Fields for their loving support in his final days.
