Obituary for Keith Joseph Madden

(DOVER, NH): Keith Joseph Madden, 60, passed away surrounded by family and friends on December 10, 2019, following a courageous journey with cancer. He was born on June 20, 1959, in Portsmouth, NH; to Ann Toner Madden and the late Richard Arthur Madden. Keith attended Kennett High School and was a graduate of Gould Academy. He attended UNH, Plymouth State College, and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Southern NH University. He had an accomplished career in commercial real estate appraisal and was a licensed NH Real Estate Broker and NH Certified General Appraiser. He was currently employed for the State of NH Department of Transportation as a Right of Way Appraisal Supervisor. In addition, he owned Madden Appraisal Services in Dover. He worked in real estate sales for many years for Coldwell Banker Dan Gabriel Real Estate, Remax Realty Group, and ERA Landmark Realty. Some may remember him for his charismatic bartending and server skills with Horsefeathers in North Conway and Dover, NH in his early years. Most iconic of his hobbies were his accomplishments in the sport of Gundog Field Trials. He spent many years on foot and horseback with his beloved sporting dogs competing and winning many placements and championships at the New England and National level. He was a well sought after certified AKC field trial judge (Pointing Breed), an active member of the Northern New England Brittany Club and a strong supporter of many German Shorthair Pointer clubs throughout New England. As one member said, “Keith will be missed for his camaraderie and friendship in the sport.” Keith found his truest enjoyments and rewards from raising and training his beloved dogs: Dusty, Sandy, Bob, Ranger, Mac, and Jimmy. Keith also enjoyed tennis, golf, boating, and traveling with his family throughout the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. All who knew Keith would always describe him as a, “really great guy.” He was patient, kind, caring and always had a smile for everyone. Keith was a true friend. When his daughter Erinn, described her Dad she would say, “If a troop of Girl Scouts came to the door selling cookies, he would buy from all of them. That’s just how generous he was.” Erinn and Keith had a special bond as father and daughter. It was rich in friendship and love beyond measure. Keith is pre-deceased by his father Richard A. Madden and survived by his cherished mother Ann of Portsmouth, NH; daughter Erinn Madden of Manchester, NH; former wife and mother of Erinn - Tracey Loughlin Madden of Durham, NH; twin brother, Kevin Madden wife Wendy and son William of Kearsarge, NH; sister, Teresa Metcalfe, husband Todd and sons Cory (Charlotte, NC) and Kyle of Fairport, NY; brother, Peter Madden wife Camille and children Hannah (Boston, MA) and Brian of Manchester, NH; brother Michael Madden of Portsmouth; and his loving partner Deanne Kettlewood, and her daughters Hillary and Maisey Kettlewood. He will be remembered by many aunts, uncles, and brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Keith touched many lives, he will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. At Christmas Keith loved the tradition of decorating the tree with his daughter. Erinn welcomes callers to bring an ornament to place on a Christmas Tree of Life in his memory at the funeral home.
