Obituary for Katherine Agnus Munson (Hashem)

Katherine Agnus Munson passed away peacefully on August 3rd at Langdon Place of Dover with her loving husband of 67 years at her side. She was born on November 26, 1934 to John J. Hashem and Yvonne Babin of Salmon Falls, NH. She was raised in Dover and attended Catholic schools. She married in 1955 and raised 5 children. She was a prolific baker and was known to keep all of the kids on Willard Road well supplied with chocolate chip cookies and various pies and pastries.

Once all of her children had graduated from high school she enrolled at UNH, and later graduated with a degree in Women’s Studies. She also worked at UNH in the education department which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Known to everyone for her kind and humble heart, Kay was grateful for what she had and for the life she was able to build with her husband. She took great pride in her family and their accomplishments. In addition to her loving nature, she was smart, talented, and exceptionally skilled at giving advice – she possessed a wealth of knowledge about life and its intricate details, often sharing her wisdom and life hacks with those around her.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years Thomas P. Munson, and children Thomas Munson Jr (Doreen) of Dover, Dennis Munson (Margret) Dover, John Munson (Kim) Groton, VT, and daughter Kathy (Steve) Haight of Dover, and son James Munson (Alexsis) Hamden, CT. She is also survived by brothers Mike (Micky) Hashem (Elaine) of Barrington, NH, John (Junior) Hashem (Elaine) of Rochester, NH, and Dan (Carol) Hashem of North Berwick, ME. She was predeceased by her sister Rachael Hasham of Dover.

Kay has 8 grandchildren (Julie Munson, Michelle Munson, Amanda Parkhurst, Jimmy Haight, Jonathan Haight, Antonia Munson, Hollis Munson and Amelie Munson) and five great-grandchildren that she loved dearly. She was also a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, who’s families she was very proud of.

A wake will be held at the Wiggin Purdy McCooey Dion Funeral home 655 Central Ave in Dover, NH on Wednesday, August 9th. Calling hours are from 4pm-6pm. Burial will be at 11:30 on Thursday in the family plot at St Mary cemetery in Dover, NH.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Langdon Place in Dover for the excellent care that she and Tom have received for the last several years while residing at Langdon Place.
