Obituary for Juliet Dahlia "Jay" Rasmussen

Juliet Dahlia "Jay" Rasmussen, 17, of Durham passed away unexpectedly July 29 from a pulmonary embolism. She was a 2018 graduate of Oyster River HS where she found great love, acceptance, and inspiration from her fellow students and the wonderful faculty and staff, whose support and guidance allowed her to bloom into a fully realized and unique individual. She planned to attend SNHU after a gap year. Jay was a very kind and gentle soul who cared deeply about her family and friends. She loved art, music, books, and was a proud, self described "nerd." Her greatest joy was time spent with her beloved sister and rescue cats and many dear friends, especially the Friday afternoon D&D group. She loved and accepted people as they were and was always there with a warm "hello," hug, or encouragement. From the earliest age she always looked for the good in everyone, and shared this knowledge with them freely. Jay is survived by her parents Paul and Lucinda, beloved sister Gwendolyn, Grammie Carol, Uncles Arthur Bautsch, Robert Bautsch, Hans Rasmussen, Erik Rasmussen, and Neal Corrigan and Aunts Cynthia Corrigan, Marilyn Bautsch, Joanne Bautsch, and Anne Rasmussen. She is also survived by first cousins Michael, Chrissy, Caitlin, Amber, Alex, Kevin, and John as well as many extended family whom she would visit in Maine. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats, PO Box 142, Lunenburg, MA 01462 or a local animal shelter.
