Joseph B. Lipsey, born on April 4, 1927, died on Saturday, November 30, 2019. He was preceded in his death by his son, David Mark, who died in 1979. He leaves his wife of 69 years, Joan Marie Dowling Lipsey, and four children, Mike (Deb), Kathy (Paul); Sue (Dean), and Jim (Bambi). He also leaves five grandchildren: Jeremy, Sean, Josh, Jessica, and David as well as five great grandchildren: Peyton, Kyler, Madison, Jackson, and Kingston. Joe enlisted in the Navy during WW II as soon as he was legally able to do so. The war ended while he was in boot camp, but he stayed in the Navy for about two years. He worked briefly at Radiant Lamp and then at Carpenter Tech in Union until he retired. After retiring, he went to work with his son, Jim, as a patent illustrator. He loved to entertain his family and nursing home residents with his ukulele. Joe was a believer, serving as a church leader and deacon, and was active with the Gideons for many years. There will be a private family ceremony at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, and then a memorial service at New Hope Church in Nottingham, NH, on December 7 at 4:00.
