Obituary for Joseph James ""Joe"" Giordani
Retired CPA and longtime Exeter, NH resident, Joseph J. Giordani, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at his home in Durham, New Hampshire, at the age of 97. He is survived by his wife, Theresa M. Giordani, children Gail (Lawrence) Christie, Darlene (Peter Laue) Newberry, Stephen (Stephanie Cottrell) Giordani, and Jacquelyn (Paul William) Fitzpatrick. His grandchildren, Ryan (Lianne) and Daniel (Auriela) Laue, Max and Kevin Christie, Anna (Chris Hoglund), James, and Grace Fitzpatrick, Cavan and Cayden Giordani, and great-granddaughter Remington Rose Hoglund.
Joseph completed his education at Northeastern University in 1950. Two years later, he tied the knot with Theresa M. Theberge and made Exeter their home. Joseph cherished Exeter for over half a century. His professional journey began as an accountant at Conway Accounting Firm located in downtown Exeter. He eventually became a partner in the firm and later founded his own accounting venture, Giordani and Associates.
Known affectionately as “Joe” by many Exeter residents, he could be spotted strolling the streets of the town daily during lunchtime. His commitment to Exeter extended to his family, as four of his children graduated from Exeter High School. Upon retiring, Joseph and his wife sought refuge from New Hampshire winters in St. Petersburg, Florida, while spending summers in Exeter. Joseph was not only an enthusiastic golfer but also a seasoned traveler, exploring every state in the USA, mostly by car.
Joseph was actively involved in the community, having served as the president of the Jaycees, as well as taking on roles as treasurer and president at the Exeter Golf Club. He also contributed his expertise to the Board of Directors for the Exeter Bank.
A funeral mass service will be held at Saint Thomas More Parish in Durham, New Hampshire, at 10 AM on Saturday, 10/28/2023. Condolence cards may be sent to 40 Dover Rd., Durham, NH 03824.
