Obituary for Joseph Roger Edmond Cloutier

Joseph “Roger” Cloutier, 88, of Pembroke, NH, passed away peacefully on April 1st, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born in West Warwick, RI to Edgar and Rose (Blanchette) Cloutier as the only son of six children.

Joe served 20 years in the United States Air Force traveling to the UK, Okinawa, Japan, the Philippines, and Vietnam. After retirement from the service, Joe and his wife Patricia settled in her hometown of Dover, NH to raise their sons, Richard and Anthony. In the late 1990’s he retired as the maintenance supervisor for Neslab in Newington. Joe was well-known for his involvement in the Dover Elks, Air Force Sergeant’s Association, and the New Hampshire Civil Air Patrol.

Joe knew he was incredibly fortunate. Following the loss of Pat after their 41-year marriage, he met and fell in love with Dixie (Menard) Cloutier. The two married and lived happily for another 20 years before his passing. He loved children and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a devoted brother, father, grandfather, and husband. Joe will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Dixie of Pembroke, sister Annette Boudreau and husband Bobby of Coventry, RI, son Anthony Cloutier and his wife Denise of Freedom, step-daughter Michelle Menard and husband Brian Waterhouse, of Florida, step-daughter Deena Lachance and her husband Dave of Manchester, step-daughter Shawnna Dion and husband Mike of Bedford, and step-son Michael Menard and his wife Denise of Manchester. Also, his grandchildren: Miranda, Patrick, Merredith, Hannah, Gabe, Tyler, Kyle, and Brandon. He is preceded in death by his first wife Patricia (Keefe) Cloutier, his son, Richard Cloutier, and sisters: Arlene, Simone, Lucille, and Claudette.

A wake will be held at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home at 655 Central Ave. Dover from 4-6 PM on Tuesday, April 11, and funeral services will be held at St. Joseph’s Church at 150 Central Ave. in Dover on April 12 at 10 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Air Force Sergeant’s Association-Chapter 155, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the Granite VNA in memory of his name.
