Obituary for John E Gray

Rollinsford, NH: John Eric Gray, 70, of Silver Street died on the 19th of May 2023 at Dover Center for Health & Rehab, Dover, NH.

He was born September 15,1952, in Boston, MA; the son of Robert W. Gray & Dorothy G. (Descheneau) Gray.
John grew up in Lincoln, MA and attended Lincoln-Sudbury High School. John strongly Believed in education and lifelong learning which continued thru his adult life. He received 2 degrees, Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Bentley College and then he received a Master’s degree in taxation. He continued his education by attending the Middlesex Community College and received 2 more degrees, an Associate’s degree in Telecommunications Technology and an Associate’s degree in Business Administration.

He retired from Verizon after many years. A year later he went to work for the IRS, Portsmouth, NH and retired from there. He assured us he did not make anyone cry and he was a nice IRS Agent.

He resided many years in Acton, MA and moved to Rollinsford, NH in 2010.

John enjoyed going to many concerts with family and friends. He loved car races and motorcycles. Always going family camping trips. He traveled to Las Vegas, Daytona and Loudon, NH with the same lifelong buddies.

He loved going to the Cape or Lake Winnipesaukee in NH with his boat. Maybe some fishing would happen, it’s a mystery if anyone actually caught a fish!

John is survived by his spouse of 44 years, Christine (Walsh) Gray; his children, Patrick of Grafton, MA; Jane of Rollinsford, NH; Michael of South Berwick, ME; Brittany of Maynard, MA; over 40 nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law and his wonderful friends.

He is predeceased by his parents, his siblings: Robert, Jeffrey, Jane, Patricia, Dorothy Martha.

John’s love for his family, extended family and friends was never ending. He was an amazing husband, father, and friend. He truly will be missed and never forgotten.

We would like to extend a very grateful thank you to all the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff at the Dover Rehab Center in Dover, NH, for the kind and compassionate care they took of John.

Friends and family may call from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Wiggin Purdy McCooey Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave, Dover, NH; with a funeral service to follow with Father Agapit Jean, officiating.
A Graveside service will immediately follow at New Town Cemetery, General Sullivan Way Rollinsford, NH.
A reception will follow the graveside service at the American Legion, Foundry St. Rollinsford, NH.
