Obituary for Joan E Gustin (Gustin)

Nottingham, NH- Joan E Gustin, 72, passed away on June 7, 2023 with loved ones by her side
after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 7, 1951 at Winchester Hospital to
Bertram and Ruth Gustin and grew up in Lexington, MA.

Joan graduated from Lexington High School and went to Andover School of Business. She
became a telephone employee where she held various positions for the phone company for over 40
years. After retirement, she worked part-time for several years at Lowes where she loved to talk to
people and help them with any questions they had. She became the head cashier and was in charge on
the floor most days.

She was a person who took great delight in accomplishing things. She was a proficient
seamstress, avid gardener, bird watcher, and loved to travel. She made no hesitation to jump into a car
and travel anywhere in the world, at any time, with others or herself. There was always a new adventure
or project awaiting her, such as making a wedding dress, solo birding around Florida, working in the yard,
and remodeling her home with her son Miles and family. She loved the time spent with the support
group that she was a huge part of for 23 years.

Joan was predeceased by both her parents and her sister, Ann Gustin. She leaves behind her son
Miles Chipman, his wife Traci, and her beloved grandson Tucker. Joan also leaves behind Miles' father,
Eric Chipman, of Harpswell ME; her sister Mary Ladd and family in CT; and her brother Richard Gustin
and family in Saskatchewan, Canada.

The Gustin family cannot thank Traci, Miles and Tucker enough for the months of skilled nursing
care and support they provided which allowed her to remain in her own home for her next adventure.
Many kind friends contributed their support and blessings, with the greatest regard, the family.
Thank you to WDH Cancer Center and the hospice nurses at Cornerstone who made her journey
as comfortable as possible.

A private family gathering will be held at the gravesite. A celebration of life will be held in the
future, dates to come.
