Obituary for Jerome Edcil Canney III

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Jerome E. Canney III, 61, on December 13, 2022, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH after a hard-fought battle with a lung infection. A lifelong resident of Barrington, NH, he was born on December 5, 1961, to the late Jerome E. Canney Jr. and Marilyn Corbett in Rochester, NH.
Jerome worked hard to provide for his family, operating his auto body repair shop and plowing for the town of Barrington for many years. He had a passion for auto racing and spent many nights in the race shop and at the racetrack where he was a decorated crew chief and car owner. When he wasn’t working or at the racetrack you could find him spending time with his family, camping and fishing. Above all else, Jerome was a devoted family man, a loving husband and proud father. He was wed to the love of his life, Sharon, for 41 years with whom he raised their two children, Katrina and Travis. He was elated to spend the last several years of his life as ‘Grandpa’ to Gavin, Chase and Briggs who he absolutely adored. He was able to spend the last year of his life doing what he loved most, racing with his son-in-law Jeffrey, whom he loved dearly.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Canney of Barrington, NH; daughter, Katrina Labrecque and her husband Jeffrey of Strafford, NH; son, Travis Canney of Lakewood, CO; grandchildren, Gavin, Chase and Briggs; his sister, Deborah Haskell; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and great friends that he considered family.
Calling hours at Purdy Memorial Chapel, 2 Concord Rd (Rte 4) Lee, NH will be Tuesday, December 20th from 3 to 5 pm with a service to follow at 5 pm.
