Obituary for James Kach

MADBURY - Jim Kach, age 75 of Nute Road passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 23 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital with his loving wife Nancy and son Sean by his side. Born on February 21, 1943 in New Rochelle, New York, he was the son of Michael and Catherine Kach. As a born entertainer, a priority for Jim was to make everyone he encountered crack a smile, laugh and be happy. His presence, let alone his smile and laughter, could easily brighten a room. Those who truly knew Jim could be the recipient of his keen sense of humor and tactful wit at any time. He will truly be remembered by his loving wife of 45 years Nancy; Sean, the son he adored more than life itself; Sean’s partner Kim; brothers Mike and his wife Paige and youngest brother John, to whom Jim was Godfather; sisters Kathy and Gina and their husbands Richard and Don; and beloved Aunt Ethel of NY. He will always be remembered by his countless nieces and nephews and their children, as well as cousins. His wife’s family will remember him as well. Besides these close relatives, Jim had special people in his life whom he counted dear to him: Jennifer, Dolon, Tim, Buzzie, Lou, Dan among many others. Despite his background as a football player in high school and at UNH, Jim’s love for his son Sean led him into coaching soccer for the various teams on which Sean played. Jim was an avid supporter of Sean’s involvement in sports as well as his culinary pursuits later in life. Many will remember Jim on stage, entertaining crowds across the New England area for nearly two decades. He was the founder, lead singer and front man for the musical group known as “Hot Property.” The group consisted of many talented and funny musicians who performed with Jim over the years, creating memories everywhere they performed. It was his love for Sean and desire to be home with him more, which led to Jim’s retirement from music in 1986. After retiring from music, Jim worked as a successful real estate agent, appraiser, and ended his career with the IT Department for the Exeter School System. During his time with Exeter, Jim also served on the Oyster River School Board representing Madbury, as well as various boards for the Town of Madbury. His desire to give back was curtailed by the various medical issues he battled silently, courageously, and with humility over the years. Jim’s interests, besides his love of family and friends, ranged from flight simulators to rebuilding computers, model airplanes, painting, drawing and recording songs. His greatest enjoyment, however, came from sitting on his back deck with his family, gazing at the wildlife that ventured into his backyard. It was truly his own “Farm in Oklahoma!” In the last weeks of his life, Jim was able to spend an amazing Christmas with Sean, Kim, Nancy, and the “Grand Pups” Roxanne and Cody. He also spent time in Florida visiting with brothers John and Mike, sister-in-law Paige and a nephew who truly inspired him: John. Those times filled him with an overwhelming sense of joy and love. In lieu of flowers, Jim would want everyone to spend special, quiet moments with loved ones: holding each other’s hands, cherishing moments together, and even quietly reminding one another that they love each other. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 1:00pm at the Madbury Town Hall, 13Town Hall Road, Madbury, NH 03823 To sign our online guestbook, please go to www.purdyfuneralservice.com
