Obituary for Jacob D McNally

June 4, 1989 – November 3, 2021

Jacob “Jake” McNally passed away unexpectedly in his home on November 3, 2021. He will be remembered and missed for his energy and exuberance. He loved his family, snowboarding, his dogs, his many motorized toys, and especially, his friends.

Jake was born in Concord, NH, and grew up in Northwood, NH. He graduated from Dover High School in 2007, and New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord, NH with a degree in business administration in 2009. Shortly after, he set out on a cross country adventure with his bulldog, Dante, to work in Colorado’s ski industry. He and Dante were well-loved members of the safety crew at Keystone Resorts. A significant snowboarding injury brought Jake back home, where he began his career in construction.

Jake was always enthusiastic about helping anyone out in any way he could, and he was a jack of all trades. He did many odd jobs for people around Northwood and enjoyed working on his cars and trucks. For the last few years Jake worked for Pinnacle Steel Works, traveling across New England erecting structures. He rose quickly through the ranks to become a foreman.

Jake will best be remembered for the way he embraced life with gusto. He loved his dogs and he brought them everywhere he went, to the lake or the mountains. Jake looked forward to the first flake of snow, every year so he could get out on the mountain-- winter was Jake’s favorite season and Loon Mountain was one of his favorite places. He was at his best on the mountain and, even after suffering many injuries, continued to delight in the sensations of snowboarding. Summer could find Jake on his motorcycle or on a jet ski at a friend’s lake house. One of his favorite summer places was at his cousin’s house off the water in Sebasco, ME.

You always knew when Jake was in the room. He had a good heart and he shared it openly. It was in the twinkle in his eye, the joviality of his laughter, and his readiness to celebrate being with his friends. He will be sorely missed by his wide circle of devoted friends.

Jake is survived by his father, Daniel McNally of Northwood, NH, his sister, Maureen Constance McNally of Washington, DC, the family dog, Winston, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 20, at 10 am, at St. Joseph’s Church, in Northwood, NH.

In Lieu of Flowers, Donations can be made to either Cocheco Valley/Pope Memorial Humane Society (https://popememorialcvhs.org/donations/) or Driver’s Education non-profit, Drivers Edge (https://driversedge.org/donate/), in Jake’s memory.
