Dover: Herbert D. Mathewson, ”Herb”’, 75, of Katie Lane passed away on Wed, July 11, 2012 at Hyder Family Hospice House with his family and good friend by his side. Herb was born on Jan.8, 1937 in Quincy, MA; the son of Wilfred and Margaret (Whittemore) Mathewson. He grew up in Laconia, NH; receiving his Masters’ degree from UNH. He married his wife, Janice Daigneau in 1963. He served our country proudly in the US Army Reserve. He worked for the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard as a Mechanical Engineer in the SUBMEP office. He loved cars, especially Corvettes. Herb loved watching sports with his friend Billy. Herb enjoyed family parties and spending time with his grandkids. He liked remodeling and fixing things up. He enjoyed spending time with friends. Herb will always be remembered by his loving family; by his wife of 49 years, Janice (Daigneau) Mathewson of Dover; his son, Mark Mathewson of Dover; his daughters, Marcie Michaud & her husband, Mike of N. Hampton and Melissa Cunio of Dover; his brother, Wilfred Mathewson of California, his grandchildren, Connor Cunio, Ali Cunio, Michael Michaud and Julia Michaud and many, many friends. Besides his parents, Herb was predeceased by his sisters, Priscilla Hoffman and Barbara Smith. We would like to thank the Portsmouth and Dover Beacon Hospice/Hyder Family Hospice House for the great care given to Herb in his time of need.
