Obituary for Helen Musler (MacKay)

Helen MacKay Musler, 93 from Sunnyside Farm, Barrington passed peacefully on Tuesday Oct. 18th at her home. Helen was born April 29,1929 in Dedham, MA to Arthur J MacKay and Sarah E Hall. Her mother’s family were members of the first families to establish the town of Barrington and they continued to visit throughout her childhood. Helen graduated from Garland Women’s College with an early education degree and married her Highschool sweetheart George T. Musler following his enlistment in the US Army.
In 1960 the Musler’s purchased Helen’s family farm Sunnyside and moved to Barrington. In 1967 Helen opened the Sunnyside Kindergarten where she taught many of the early Barrington youth for 13 years. In 1980 she opened the Sunnyside Tack and Grain Store with her daughter Sally which was later sold in 1994. Helen trained and served as one of Barrington’s first EMTs established by Joel Sherman where she volunteered for many years.
Helen was predeceased by husband George and leaves behind daughters Sally York, Judy Fogarty and son Gary Musler. She had six grandchildren, Dedra and Gary Jr. Musler, James York, Amy Shaw, Justin Forgarty and Lydia Hanna. There is also four great-grandchildren, Connor and Jack Fogarty, Kaylee York and Addison Shaw.
As per Helen’s wishes a family private service will be held at gravesite where she will be laid to rest beside her husband of 72 years.
