Gregory James Nestle, 79 of Dover, New Hampshire died on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was pre-deceased by his parents Kenneth and Jean Nestle, and his brother Dennis Nestle. Greg grew up in Canajoharie, New York where he played football, basketball, and golf and graduated from Canajoharie High School Class of 1957. With his outgoing personality he was voted prom king and "best dancer" of his senior class. He attended Clarkson University and obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Alfred State. In his final year at Alfred State he was named President of the Student Council. He worked as an engineer at IBM for over 30 years in Essex Jct. Vermont, living first in Essex, and then 23 years in Shelburne where he and Linda raised their family. He was a member of the Shelburne United Methodist Church and a past President of the Shelburne Rotary Club. In 1995, he moved to Massachusetts to work for Millipore Corporation until his retirement. Greg and Linda settled in Dover, NH in 2013 where they reside today. Greg was an avid hunter and loved his hunting camp in Vermont “deerly” where he spent countless hours with his hunting buddies. He also loved watching sports – especially the Boston Red Sox and Patriots. When he wasn’t spending his time hiking, hunting, or watching his sports teams you could find him reading a book or watching his favorite movies. Greg was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone! He will be remembered for his huge heart and warm smile. A special thank you to the medical team in the GPU at Frisbie Memorial Hospital for their loving care and support during his final days. Visitation will be from 11:00am-12:00pm with service to immediately follow at Wiggin-Purdy Funeral Home in Dover, NH on Monday, March 18th. Burial will be in Vermont at a later date.
