Geraldine H. Fogarty, age 88, passed peacefully surrounded by her four daughters and her husband on Dec. 19, 2021.
Geraldine Morton Hankin Fogarty was born on September 26, 1933, in Exeter NH to Fred Marshall Hankin and Helen Kathleen Morton of Portsmouth NH. She grew up in Newfields NH where she attended Newfields Elementary School followed by her high school years at Robinson Female Seminary in Exeter, NH where she graduated with the class of 1951. After high school, Gerry attended McIntosh College and earned a business degree. Gerry worked for NH Employment Security for 39 years.
Gerry embraced life. She had many interests and was committed to being involved in the community in which she lived and raised her family. She was a devote Catholic and attended mass with her family every Sunday.
Gerry had three daughters from her first marriage (Michelle, Cindy and Laurie). She then married the love of her life Ivan T. Fogarty from Barrington, NH. They had another daughter named Maureen. Together Ivan and Gerry shared a wonderful life together full of fun, laughter and being with family and friends.
Gerry’s loving husband of 56 years, passed away on July 17, 2022 and is survived by her daughters Michelle Willett Baer and husband Brian, Cindy Willett Noble-Hanson and husband Frank, Laurie Willett and husband Michael Gaudette, and Maureen Fogarty Greenwood and husband Fred. Two stepsons, Ivan Paul Fogarty and wife Diane, and Michael Fogarty and wife Grace. She is also survived by one sister, Dorothy Hankin Groetz. Gerry was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Gerry is predeceased by her adopted son Jeffrey Fogarty and three sisters, Marjorie Hankin Osborn, Joan Hankin Comita and Shirley Hankin Siemen and a brother Fred M. Hankin Jr.
Calling hours will be held on Friday August 19 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Purdy Memorial Chapel, 2 Concord Rd, Lee NH. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday August 20, at Chapel of the Nativity, 731 Rt. 9, Barrington NH at 10:00.
