DOVER: Gerald L. Smith, 77, of Arbor Drive, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Portsmouth, NH. Gerry was born on February 8, 1941 in Berlin, NH; the son of Almado W. and Irene (Button) Smith. Gerry was a mechanical engineer ad worked at Moore Business Forms as a senior designer for 31 years retiring in November 2001. He was affiliated with Moses Paul 96 F&AM Masonic Lodge, Dover, NH, a member of the Elks, a lifetime member of St. John’s Methodist Church. Gerry being a local artist, Musician, a poet and the Founder of Silver Strummers Ukulele Band at the Dover Senior Center, 11 years ago. Gerry is survived by spouse of 5 years, Carol (Moore) Smith of Dover; his children, Brant Smith, his wife, Susan of Barrington, Michael Smith; his grandsons, Brandon Smith, Dylan Smith and Christopher Zampa; two great grandsons, Cameron Zampa and Mason Zampa and 3 stepchildren, Scott Young of Portsmouth, Kim Dailey of South Berwick, ME and Kristin Liberman of Jericho, VT. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his first wife, Aura Smith in 2007, Brother Lyle Smith 2015 and sister, Nancy Smith in 1975. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gerald’s name to Cocheco Valley Humane Society, 262 County Farm Road, Dover, NH 03820 , and End 68 hours of Hunger, 28 Cataract Ave., Dover, NH 03820. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at St. John’s Methodist Church, 28 Cataract Ave., Dover, NH with Pastor Sue Frost, officiating.
