Obituary for Gail Carolyn Holmes (Holmes)
New Durham, NH: Gail Carolyn Holmes, 77, of Merrymeeting Road died on March 6, 2023 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover, NH with her family by her side. She was born in Berlin NH to Austin and Elizabeth (Bennett) Holmes on February 19, 1946.
Gail was a loving mother, grandmother & great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a “mom” and “Gram” to so many and was always putting others first. Gail was a kind soul with a big heart as well as a big personality. She was a “spitfire” with a quick wit and humor.
As a long-time resident of New Durham, Gail enjoyed being outside working in her yard, watching birds (hummingbirds were her favorite!), and walking to the lake with her grandkids to go swimming. She was an avid scrapbooker and enjoyed doing anything crafty. She loved her coffee, the New England Patriots and the Georgia Bulldogs football teams as well as Animal Planet and the Hallmark Channel.
Gail leaves behind her loving children, Robbie Landry of New Durham, NH; Russell Landry of Haverhill, MA (married to Cindy Landry); Ritchie Landry of Tucson, AZ; Randy Landry of Watkinsville, GA (married to Elaine Adams); and Nicci Landry of Bowdoin, ME (engaged to Scott Deschaines).
Gail was a loving grandmother (Nana) to Jenn Landry of Pittsfield, NH; Josh Landry of Pittsfield, NH (married to Kari Landry); Ryan Landry of Tucson, AZ; Dillon Landry of Tucson, AZ; Savannah Landry of Watkinsville, GA; Liam Landry of Watkinsville, GA; Maverick Landry of Nashua NH; Cameron Belliveau of Bowdoin, ME; Aimee Burtt of Webster NH (married to Jonathan Burtt; Keaton Jones of Salem NH. Additionally, she leaves behind two nephews, one niece, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Gail is survived by her brother Austin “Buddy” Holmes of Gorham, NH (married to Linda Holmes).
Gail is pre-deceased by her parents, Austin and Elizabeth (Bennett) Holmes her loving husband, Daniel Gauthier and her grandson, Jeremy.
Gail’s love for her family was beyond measure and this is when she had the most joy – surrounded by family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gail’s honor to a charity of your choosing.
A Celebration of Gail’s life will be held this spring; Monday, May 29, 2023; from 12pm-4pm at the Mason Lodge, 40 Suncook Valley Rd. (Rt 28) Alton, NH 03809.
