Obituary for Francis "Frank" Garofano Mr.

SOMERSWORTH – Francis “Frank” Garofano, passed away with his family by his side on May 18, 2014 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. He was 83 years old. Frank was born in Lynn, MA. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Korean War veteran. When he returned home he worked at General Electric in Somersworth as a Supervisor in the Receiving Department. He retired in 1991 with 41 years of service with General Electric. Frank has been very active volunteering for Holy Trinity Church. He worked church suppers, picnics and craft fairs and would help out on Monday evenings at the church sponsored Bingo. You never had to ask Frank for a favor, because he would have offered to help before you could ask. He enjoyed gardening and baking with his two specialties, brownies and oatmeal bars, always receiving rave reviews. Photography was also a passion for him, both filming and still photography, of many weddings and events for family and friends. Frank was a member of the Dover Elks Lodge 184, the Dover Senior Center, and the American Legion, Post 8 in Dover, NH. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marcia Garofano (Flygare); his son Michael Garofano and his wife Donna; his daughter Patricia Ainsworth and her husband Donald; his sister Concetta Coraine and her husband Antonio Coraine; two grandchildren, Steven Garofano and his wife Jennifer, Jillian Garofano-Staines and her husband Shawn Staines; and one great grandchild, Mary Charlotte Garofano. Frank is predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and Frank Garofano; his two brothers, Ralph and Gary Garofano; and his sister Amalia Dillon. Family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave. Dover, NH 03820 – 603-742-1017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 1 PM at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church – 404 High St. Somersworth, NH 03878 - 603-692-2172. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dover following the service. Family flowers only, the family requests donations be made to the St. Mary Scholarship Endowment Fund P.O.
