Obituary for Eileen C Bardwell Mrs.

Eileen C. Bardwell, 81, of Dover passed away peacefully at her home on May 31, 2011 with her family present. She was born on October 25, 1929 in Dover, NH and was the daughter of George and Bernice Carr. Eileen was raised in Dover and attended Dover schools. After graduating from Dover High School she went to McIntosh College where she obtained her degree in Business. Eileen was employed at Kidder Press on Broadway, and later went to work for Attorney Dwight Hall in Dover. During that time she married her husband, Raymond Bardwell, and went on to become a housewife and homemaker for many years. She worked as bookkeeper for their family-owned business, Great Bay Disposal Service for about eighteen years. Eileen had many passions and her family came first. She enjoyed assembling cookbooks for family and friends, cooking and making meatballs, which was a family favorite. She was also an avid reader and could be seen with a book in hand every night. Cookouts with family and friends were a highlight for her. Eileen, Ray and their children spent many summers at their summer cottage on Merrymeeting Lake from 1968 to 1993. Later, Eileen and Ray spent many winters at their Englewood, Florida home where they enjoyed boating, fishing, and spending time with good friends and many sunsets. They also traveled across country with their RV to see many historical sites, which was a dream they had. Eileen enjoyed traveling but her motto was ‘There’s no place like home.’ Eileen is survived by her husband, Raymond H. Bardwell of Dover, with whom she shared 54 wonderful years; her children, Brian Bardwell and his wife, Lori of Barrington; Jeffrey Bardwell and his wife, June of Concord; and Susanne Jagielski and her husband, Jim of Barrington; eight grandchildren, Jaime and Marc Bardwell, Charles and Lacy McMahon, Duncan and Connor Bardwell, and Brandon and Kristen Jagielski. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Seacoast Cancer Center at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, 789 Central Avenue, Dover, NH. Friends and family may call from 5-8:00pm, Thurs., June 2, 2011 at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover, NH. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Fri., June 3, 2011 at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Monson Alley of St. John’s United Methodist Church, officiating.
