Obituary for Edward L Smith Mr.

Dover: Edward Smith, 83, of Dover, passed away on Sat., May 12, 2012 at the Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation Center. Edward was born on April 20, 1929 in Nottingham, NH; the son of Lauren H. and Bessie (Demeritt) Smith. Edward married his wife, Esther Louise (Gingras) Witherell in June of 1952. He worked at United Tanners in Dover for 29 years and Suncook Leathers in Pittsfield for 28 years. Edward would accompany his wife Esther to church at First Parish Church, Congregational of Dover, NH. Edward enjoyed going to the Gateway Restaurant, camping, fishing, watching the boats at Swain’s Lake and candlepin bowling. He loved his NASCAR, being an avid fan of Jeff Gordon. He also loved watching his “Speed” channel, never missing the Racing HUB on Monday nights. Edward is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Esther Amato of Dover; two granddaughters, Kristin Innis and Jennifer Milliard; two great grandsons, DJ and Ryan Innis; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Esther Louise Smith in April of 2012, his two brothers, Robert and Raymond Smith. Family flowers only, please; memorial donations may be made in Edward’s name to the Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation Center (formerly Dover Rehabilitation Center), 307 Plaza Drive, Dover, NH 03820. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, on Wed., May 16, 2012 at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover, NH. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Dover.
